Skin Care by Clinique

Clinique was founded in 1968. It is an offshoot of the Estee Lauder Company and it was the first skin care line that was developed by a dermatologist. What makes Clinique stand out in the beauty industry is that it does not make cosmetics that contain a single “universal solution”. Manufacturers of Clinique cosmetics aim to meet specific skin care needs of every individual. The scientific method that they use takes into account the different skin types, eye colors, facial and lip types, the skin’s reaction to sun exposure, the individual’s pore size, the frequency of breakouts (if any), and the appearance of surface facial lines.

Since Clinique treats its clientele as specific individuals, a new customer who is interested in purchasing a product for the first time is always assisted by their staff so that the customer’s skin type will be scientifically determined by means of questioning, using a survey form. After which, the customer will be presented with a program that is customized to her specific needs.

All Clinique products are 100% fragrance free and all are allergy tested.

Under the guidance of Dr. Orentreich, chemists at Clinique cosmetics came up with a complete three-step skin care system:

Use facial soap

The soap comes in a bar or liquid form. Its formulation cleans the skin gently and thoroughly but it will not cause dryness to one’s skin.

Exfoliate your skin with the use of a clarifying lotion

Use the clarifying lotion to exfoliate your skin, thereby making it smoother and brighter.

Use moisturizing lotion or gel

Apply moisturizing lotion or gel to smooth and soften your skin. The moisturizing lotion or gel maintains your skin’s optimal moisture balance.

Clinique sells its products in different stores and retail chains. It holds many events and promotions in these stores and even offers incentives at Peebles, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and Lord & Taylor, among others.
