In the year 1983, Jane Wurwand, a tenured skin therapist from the United Kingdom, came to Los Angeles. Upon arriving in the US, she recognized that she did not find what should be a continuing skin and body therapy education. Jane had extensive and comprehensive in the United Kingdom but skin therapy students in the US, although licensed, lacked proper training. So, Jane started holding training sessions in a small classroom in Marina del Rey, California using the name The International Dermal Institute (IDI). Today, IDI can be found in 40 locations worldwide.
